Production start-up at Mahani Gas Field
This week, Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), along with its partner Eni, has announced start-up at the Mahani-1 gas well, and thus celebrating first gas from the Mahani Field in Sharjah. All the more impressive with this significant milestone is that the discovery of the onshore Mahani field was announced by SNOC and its partner Eni only at the end of January 2020.
Lamprell was awarded a medium-sized* engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning contract (EPICC) in May of this year including hook-up and installation at the well, existing systems upgrade, associated tie-ins and a new 23 km export pipeline.
Commenting on the achievement Chief Executive Christopher McDonald said: “With our roots in the region, supporting the local energy environment is one of the cornerstones of our strategy. This has always been a fast track EPICC project and achieving first gas against the backdrop of the challenges experienced during 2020, is to be applauded. Through the highest levels of collaboration we are proud to have played our part in delivering this safely for SNOC and Eni. Our congratulations to everyone involved in this successful achievement.”
